Bosch Lambda Sensor:

I have found 2 bosch models with the correct plug that works with JAW, the bosch "17053" and "17014". The difference between them is the length of the cable between the sensor head and the plug.

here is a pic of the 17053:

Here is a pic of how the plug looks like

Where to buy the sensor: (sometimes these links get changed to another sensor, make sure you see the Bosch 17053 or 17014 in the description)

Amazon @ $50, http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-17014-Oxygen-Sensor/dp/B000BZI4ZW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1208881707&sr=1-1

Amazon @ $60, http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-17053-Oxygen-Sensor/dp/B000BZG9C2/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1197430251&sr=1-8

worldimpex, @ $60, http://www.worldimpex.com/parts/bosch-oxygen-sensor_552431.html

Autozone also carries the correct sensor @ $50, but the link seems to change often.

www.oxygensensor.net // they carry the Bosch 17014 for $50 USD. They are based in Canada and shipping is $9

EGT Probe:

JAW 1.041 can use an EGT probe as an input, and display it on the 2nd LED display that you daisy chain. Currently EGT support is limited to the LED gauge, datalogging does not support EGT yet.

JAW 1.041 can use any K type thermocouple, ideally it should be the grounded type.

http://www.omega.com/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=TC-NPT&Nav=tema09

I would get the:
TC-K-NPT-G-72         In Stock          $34.00            Type K Grounded Pipe Plug Probe
or
TC-K-NPT-E-72         In Stock          $34.00            Type K Exposed Tip Pipe Plug Probe

The Exposed should give you the best response time to changing temps, but the exposed tip might have issues if liquid or condensation of some type get on there. I am also not sure how it would handle carbon buildup. I know other people running exposed tip probes with other EGT systems, so it might be ok

The other probe does not have an exposed tip, so the response time is not as good to temperature changes.

I really know nothing about EGT probes, but if it was me I would get the the probe without the exposed tip not for performance but for probe life.

USB to serial coverter:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5859

Someone told me that converter uses the prolific chipset. I have found the prolific chipset to be most compatible with my serial devices including JAW.

Dealexterme has free shipping

Please post up any sources you guys have and I will update the sticky.

FYI...My Belkin F5u109 would not work no matter what I tried.

I purchased one from Tigerdirect for $9.99.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1086963&CatId=447

Driver loaded no problem on XP, was able to finally communicate with JAW! Much relieved now!

Little more expensive than the one Alan notes abouve but I based my purchase on the number and quality of the customer reviews.

The LSU Bosch sensor is very hard to get in Australia!
Amazon etc. don't post this item internationally Angry

All quotes are above $200.00 for the 17014/17053.
Tech Edge are based in Canberra, Australia and host this website.
http://wbo2.com/lsu/sensors.htm

I ordered the 0 258 007 057 and got the 0 258 007 200*
"Note (*): if the 7057 sensor is out of stock then we will automatically ship the 7200 (from 18 April 2007 they are the same price because of price increases
07 200 -- Bosch # 0 258 007 200, LSU 4.2 upgrade of 7057 sensor. (20" 500 mm)"

Does this sensor work with JAW? it seems identical to the 17014.

Cheers

I'd also be interested to know where everyone from Aus or NZ gets their bosch LCU sensors from, considering the US Amazon Site refuses to ship the item to us, the World Impex site charges $115 for shipping, and the AutoZone site charges $150 for the sensor alone.

Alan, is there any way you could organize for the item to be shipped to you in Canada, then you send the sensor over to Aus with the JAW unit as well? Obviously you would charge more than $10USD for postage, but this would still be a cheaper option than buying the sensor through other means and shipping them over here ourselves.

And you got the sensor to work fine?

What about the fact that the Bosch 17053 unit is a 6wire where as the wb02 unit is 5?

It has 6 connectors at the plug on the sensor, I believe the sensor uses five wires and the 6th is for the calibration resistor that is inbuilt into the plug

It work fine

which sensor has the longest cable? the "17053" or the "17014"?
The 53 is a little bit more expensive, seems like that one has the longest cable. am i right?

Good find. FTDI chips definitely work reliably, and all you need to do for that unit is dip it in some rubber coating stuff to seal it up, or use electrical tape if it isn't that important to ya.

p.s. I can get 17014s for a little under $60, plus shipping to the person.  If anyone is interested, shoot me an e-mail.  I respond pretty quickly.
