NAW_OEM Wideband Module

Aug 15 2008: NAW_OEM will no longer be available for purchase to the end user. NAW_OEM will only be available for OEM type applications

There are several new wideband controllers available, click here to browse through all my products

NAW_OEM Features:

Bare Module

NAW_OEM Documentation is here

This module is not a gimmick, it is the world's smallest and lowest cost standalone wideband controller. Do not let the price and size fool you, it is a high performance, fully featured wideband controller.

The module is almost fully assembled, you need to solder in connectors and LEDs if you want to use the LED display.

NAW_OEM is only possible due to the unique microcontroller it uses, Cypress PSoC, no other wideband controller on the market uses PSoC. All external ICs that you typically find on a wideband controller are implemented inside the PSoC silicon using programmable digital and switch capacitor blocks. The elimination of external components increases accuracy because there are less component tolerances to take into account, it also dramatically reduces cost and the size of the controller, furthermore the small size reduces shipping cost and packaging material.  For the core wideband functionality only 4 resistors, 1 capacitor, and a MOSFET are required. The rest of the components are there for; voltage protection, voltage regulation, linear voltage output, simulated narrowband output, and LED display.

Originally NAW_OEM was meant soley for the purposes of integration into other manufacturer's products, hence the OEM suffix and small size. After the initial design was complete, I was so satisfied with its performance that I decided to add additional components; voltage protection, voltage regulator, output buffers, and LED footprints, so that the module can serve both the OEM and standalone market with the same hardware.

Specifically for product integration purposes, I will soon release NAW_OEM_I2C, the hardware is the exact same as NAW_OEM, but the firmware has been updated to include an I2C communications channel. Up to 64 NAW_OEM_I2C modules will be able to share the same I2C bus simultaneously.

Accuracy:

Accuracy of 0.01 Lambda is over the 10-19 AFR, 0.68-1.293 Lambda, range. I can not guarantee 0.01 Lambda accuracy for gases richer than 10 AFR, 0.68 Lambda.

LED Display:

The LED display is composed of 7 LEDs, you chose the color of LEDs you want. By grounding pin 14 on the module you can chose between 2 display modes; wide range and narrow range. In wide range, each LED has a resolution of 1 AFR, the range of display is 11-16 AFR. In narrow range, each LED has a resolution of 0.5 AFR, the range of the display is 11-13.5 AFR.

Linear Voltage Output:

The linear voltage out is a 0-5[v] linear output from 9 to 19 AFR, 0.612 to1.293 Lambda.

Optional Temperature Display:

The module also supports 2 external LEDs to show the temperature of the Bosch LSU sensor. These LEDs are connected externally as there are no footprints on the PCB for them.
